Direct Jamie Murray Wells launched
Glasses Direct, the online prescription
glasses company, in 2004 aged just 21,
taking on the high street in order to bring
massive savings to the consumer. Jamie
estimates he has saved the public around £40
million on their prescription eyewear to
date with Glasses Direct becoming the
largest online retailer of prescription
glasses in the world.
Now Jamie has
launched Hearing Direct so he can do the
same for the
hearing aid market, offering
the public hearing aids at
affordable prices,
which can be bought via the internet in the
comfort of their own home.
Jamie’s entry
into the hearing aid market with
HearingDirect.com is supported by
three
experts from the industry, each have an
extensive understanding about
hearing aid
technology and true costs of hearing aids as
well as the poor value for money currently
offered on the High Street.
Stuart
Canterbury has 14 years’ hearing industry
experience, most recently as Managing
Director of one of the UK's leading hearing
aid manufacturers. He worked extensively
with the National Health Service, playing a
pivotal role in supporting the Modernising
of Hearing Aid Services programme alongside
the Royal National Institute for the Deaf.
He has also worked in close conjunction for
several years with most of the large retail
chains including Boots, Amplifon and
Scrivens.
Gary Hill
comes from 6 years’ experience in
manufacturing at one of the UK’s leading
brand of Hearing Aids, most recently as
Marketing Director and has an extensive
understanding of what the public is looking
for as regards hearing assistance.
Joan
McKechnie entered the Hearing Aid Industry
in 2001, after completing her honours degree
in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the
University of Cape Town (where she has also
lectured). Her most recent role has been
dedicated to hearing aid development for one
of the World's leading manufacturers.
